From 2005 to 2008 Sebastian Schwarz studied at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst "Ernst Busch" Berlin. During his studies he already appeared at various theaters in Berlin such as the Deutsches Theater as Danton in "Dantons Tod".

 

Since 2008 he is a permanent ensemble member of the Schaubühne in Berlin. There the actor proves his diversity and versatility in plays such as Friedrich Hebbel's "Nibelungen" as Siegfried, "Stück Plastik" in the role of Serge Haulupa or as Count Paris, Amme and Sampson in "Romeo and Juliet". In 2014 he made a guest appearance at the Avignon Festival with "The Marriage of Maria Braun". In December 2016, Sebastian Schwarz premiered as Dr. Ebenwald in "Professor Bernhardi".

 

The actor made his cinema debut in 2007 with the film "Polska Love Serenade," which was nominated for the Max Ophüls Prize. This was followed by films such as "Résiste - Aufstand der Praktikanten", "Die letzte Lüge", "Mängelexemplar" and "Beste Freunde". The actor was also able to show his skills in various TV formats, including "Im Angesicht des Verbrechens" and Tatort. In 2016, he was in front of the camera for the feature film "Zwei im falschen Film" alongside Laura Tonke, among others.

 

In 2017, Sebastian Schwarz starred as Frank Weber in the ARD primetime series "Frau Temme sucht das Glück". The German Academy for Film and Television nominated him for his performance in the "Best Supporting Role" category.

He appeared in front of the camera for Bully Herbig's new feature film "Der Ballon" and Katharina Wackernagel's "Wenn Fliegen träumen" in 2017. Together with Rosalie Thomas, he shot the short film "Kleptomami" directed by Pola Beck. He caused a sensation in the same year with his portrayal of Ralf Peng in Marius von Mayenburg's play "Peng" at the Schaubühne Berlin. 

 

In 2018, Sebastian Schwarz filmed the culture-clash dramedy series "Deutsch-les-Landes." The German-French joint project was produced by Bavaria Fiction in collaboration with Telfrance for Deutsche Telekom and Amazon Prime Video. In November, the series starring the actor launched on Magenta TV. He premiered the play "Italian Night" directed by Thomas Ostermeier at the Schaubühne Berlin in November 2018.

 

He also filmed the series "Other Parents" for TNT Comedy. The mocumentary with improv elements aired in 2019. The second season followed in 2020. At the end of 2019, the actor was seen in the docu-cinema film "Als ich mal groß war" in one of the leading roles.

 

In 2020, Sebastian Schwarz appeared in the formats "Frau Jordan stellt gleich," "Kroymann" and "Liebe! Jetzt" in front of the camera. The actor also took on the role of Inspector Werner Fritz in "Kommissarin Lucas - Nürnberg.
 

In early summer 2021, filming began for the actor on the new edition of "Mord mit Aussicht" for ARD. The series started in spring 2022 with Sebastian Schwarz in one of the main roles as Heino Fuß on Ersten. In the same year he filmed for productions including "Die Jägerin", "Die drei Ausrufezeichen", "Kroymann" and "Komissarin Lucas".


At the beginning of 2023, he appeared in the Amazon Prime true-crime series "Gefesselt". The actor also starred in the Disney series adaptation of "The Three Shout-Outs" in the fall. In the same year, he shot the mockumentary film "Andere Eltern" for ZDF.

On April 14, 2024, the long-awaited fifth season of "Mord mit Aussicht" will start on ARD with the actor in the leading role. Sebastian Schwarz is currently in front of the camera for the Franz Kafka biopic "Franz", directed by Agnieszka Holland.
