Police commissioner, skinhead, vicar – Anna Brüggemann is one of the most versatile actresses in Germany. She played her first role in the television film 'Virus X' at the age of fifteen. Numerous roles in tv and feature films followed, like “Anatomy”, “Das Dorf der Mörder”, “Sometime in August”, “Kommissarin Lucas” or for example “Heil”.
Anna Brüggemann does not restrict herself to acting only and has established herself as a successful screenwriter. Together with her brother, the director Dietrich Brüggemann, she wrote “Nine scenes “, “Run, if you can“ as well as “Move“, to name a few. For their joint project "Way of the Cross," the siblings received the Silver Bear in the category "Best Screenplay" and the "Ecumenical Jury Award. Anna Brüggemann and Charlotte Link then wrote the screenplay for "Als Hitler das rosa Kaninchen stahl" based on the novel by Judith Kerr. In 2020, the feature film won the German Film Award for Best Children's Film.
At the beginning of 2017, the actress was already seen in the Frankfurt "Tatort - Es kommen Millionen!". In June of the same year, she was appointed to the Grand Jury of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. To that she was still in front of the camera for the feature film "Elephants grow fast" directed by Carlos A. Morelli.
In 2018, Anna Brüggemann filmed the "Polizeiruf 110 - Kindeswohl" as well as the Cologne "Tatort - Ausser Kontrolle". She then played the author and women's rights activist Clara Zetkin in "Raus aus dem Korsett" directed by Beate Thalberg. She also took the lead role in the feature film "Nö" directed by Dietrich Brüggemann, for which the two co-wrote the screenplay.
In 2019 followed the shooting of the film "Das Unwort" alongside Iris Berben and Devid Striesow, which premiered on ZDF in November 2020. Also, this year she was honored to host the European Film Awards in Berlin.
In 2020, the actress was in front of the camera for the productions "Blackout", "The Mopes" and the crime scene "Das ist unser Haus", among others.
Her debut novel "Trennungsroman" was published by Ullstein on 29 March 2021 and was awarded the 2021 lit.Colonge debut prize. The feature film "NÖ" started in German cinemas on 30 September 2021.
In 2022 Anna Brüggemann took on one of the leading role in the ARD cave drama "Riesending" directed by Alexander Freydank. The drama premiered on 28.12.2022 on ARD.
"Black Box" premiered at the 2023 Munich Film Festival and was shown in cinemas in summer 23. In 2024, the actress could already be seen in "Marie Brand und die verfolgte Braut" on ZDF.
On October 31, 2024, Anna Brüggemann will publish her second novel "Wenn nachts die Kampfhunde spazieren gehen" - Roman über Mütter und Töchter with Ullstein Verlag.
