Luna Wedler will be honoured as a Shooting Star at the Berlinale 2018. With its Shooting Stars Award, the European Film Promotion EFP promotes the ten most talented actors in Europe every year.
Luna Wedler is the youngest participant among the ten European Shooting Stars. The 5-member jury expressed utter enthusiasm for her acting performance: “With a fearless performance in BLUE MY MIND, Luna Wedler stands tall as a spontaneous and bold actor. She embodies an on-screen presence that is breathtaking and intense, leaving us with the impression that she has a natural ability to express strong emotions” (from the jury statement). During the 68th Berlinale, the young talents have the opportunity to meet with international film professionals and casting agencies, as well as participate in networking events.
European Film Promotion (EFP) is comprised of 37 European promotion and marketing organisations aiming to bolster European films. The Shooting Stars event is just one of the initiatives by EFP geared towards fostering Europe’s most talented young actors, as well as an important talent exchange for actors. The event served as a stepping for many former Shooting Stars: for example, Swiss actors Joel Basman, Max Hubacher, Carla Juri and Sven Schelker; German actors Daniel Brühl and Jella Haase; Swedish actress Alicia Vikander; and the two English actresses Carey Mulligan and Maisie Williams. In 2016 Kacey Mottet Klein (SISTER, KEEPER) was Switzerland’s Shooting Star in Berlin.
